Back in the day Wa Da Shuda was a big event for the Kennedy clan. Everyone would flock in from their different parts of the state for the festivities at "Tourist Park" as it was known back then. There was food, drinks, and fun. Sherry was probably the coolest with her oversized boombox blaring Michael Jackson's Thriller album. I can't imagine how many batteries she burned through. When we weren't following Sherry around like ducklings following their mother's, we were going on endless rides around New Lisbon on the train. Pam would usually make herself the honorary member of whatever band happened to be playing. If she wasn't playing drums she became the lead singer....if not both. The parties went well into the night. The kids were chased off to the campers so the adults could play the broom game. To this day, we don't know exactly know what the broom game was. Truth be told, many of the adults who played probably can't remember themselves. There was the occasional mishap like the time the campground was vacated because of the tornado that was heading our way. Don't worry, us kids were safe back at Granny Good Witch's house where we were following orders and flipping the davenport to hide under. No, really, we were. There was also the time when a small search party was formed to search the park for the missing little girl (whose name will go unmentioned) who was peacefully sleeping back at Gram's house. She told her mother she was leaving with responsible (and probably drunk) adults and her mother said "OK". Clearly, mother wasn't listening.
Wa Da Shuda isn't until next weekend, but we formed a mini-family reunion at Riverside Park in New Lisbon with many of the original members of the Kennedy clan as well as many new additions. A good time was had by all. Apparently, the evening ended with a bit of drama involving some drama with the neighbor campers and the cops. I missed out on that.
Here are some pictures from the day.
I'm not sure, but I think Cole was practicing a little yoga here...
The boys were so excited that Kennedy brought a Dora the Explorer chair. They both spent time in the pink chair just their size. Here Cole wanted some time in it, but Brendan clearly won.
Brendan, being the social kid he was, wanted nothing to do with anyone else but was willing to sit near Sherry and Andy as long as he got to sit on his chair.
Kennedy and Maddy bonding.
Just relaxing...
Discussing the meaning of life, I believe.
Play time...
I've been told that a picture is worth 1,000 words. What do these pictures say about Tina?? I think she appears completely bored by all of the fun people surrounding her. She even looks like she may be plotting an escape in her head. Do you agree or is it just me?
And if you haven't already, be sure to scroll down and watch the video of Brendan watching the fireworks. It's worth it, I think.
