Gramma Horis's

The morning after we went to Dolores’ house, I woke up Brendan and told him we were going on a car ride (to the babysitters). He popped up and said he wanted to go to Horis’s house. I had no idea what he was talking about. He looked VERY annoyed as he explained. He said he wanted to go to “Gramma Dodie’s” house. He wanted to see “the goats and pigs and cows and ducks and donkeys”. He was NOT happy when we didn’t go to see Gramma Dodie.

While Brendan was all about the animals, Owen is more about bonding with the people. He was very flirty that night. He got to play in the grass for the first time ever. He was in heaven.

Farmer Lee

I think Brendan aspires to be a farmer. We went to visit our friend, Dolores, the other night. He could care less about the scrumptious food she cooks for us. He has one track mind and can't concentrate on anything but the fact that her fence borders a mini-farm full of goats, cows, a pig, and a menagerie of other critters.

The goats are the only one interested in him.

He would sit there for hours if we let him.

Him and Owen chilled out together on the swing for a few minutes.

Jumping is hard work

It wears out a little man.

Egghead Jr, Jr.

I said in my last post that Owen had to get glasses. So far, he's not at all bothered by them. I probably just jinxed us. He wears them from the time he gets up until he goes to bed, except for naps, with no fuss at all. He'll occasionally pull them off but I don't think it's on purpose. They just get in his way.

Do you remember the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons? Do you remember Egghead Jr? Jeremy thinks Owen looks just like him. What do you think?

Brendan says no. He said that Owen's a baby and that's just a little bird.

In addition to the new glasses, Owen has three new teeth. Well, two brand new ones this week, and one a couple weeks ago. He spends the day flicking his tongue on his pearly whites.

On a completely unrelated subject. Happy 40th, Julie! I added another toe picture just for you.

9 months

Guess who is NINE months old today?

(Owen in his Easter duds)

Owen's growing like a weed. He's tall and skinny. When I weighed him last week he was up to 18 lbs, 5 oz. I've never measured to see how tall he is. We go in for his 9 mo check up later this month so we'll find out then.

Owen and Brendan both had eye appointments last week. When Brendan was little his eye turned in a bit so we started taking him in. His eye corrected itself before we ever went in for the first appointment. He was far-sighted so they had him come back for another exam after six months. It had improved too but he had to go back after a year. The doctor said that his eyes are great and he doesn't have to go back until he is four.

Owen's eye turned in too so we took him in. Unlike Brendan, his has not corrected itself. He is also far-sighted like Brendan. We walked out of that appointment with a prescription for glasses. He got his new specs this week. He has to wear them for six months. After six months if it hasn't corrected itself, the doctor said we'll discuss patching his eye or surgery. He goes back in June for another test.

We had an appointment a few weeks ago with a Developmental Pediatrician. She told us that Owen's upper body tone is a little low. She said that the tone in his trunk it too high which is why he wasn't sitting yet. When you try to put him in a sitting position, he tries to extend his body to stand or lay flat. She suggested physical therapy at least bi-weekly. We are actually working on doing it weekly. One week in Reedsburg with a Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist and the next week with Birth to Three. After three weeks of working with him he is sitting on his own for short periods of time. Sometimes he needs a little bit of support, sometimes he needs none at all. He's not totally sitting on his own but he's made major improvements after just three appointments (and us working with him at home).

Stay tuned for pictures of his new specs later this week.

Brendan Van Gogh

The Easter Bunny brought Brendan finger paints. I thought he'd love them, but he didn't like getting his hand dirty. Oh well.

Just a swingin'

Brendan still isn't a fan of his swing for some reason, but he's starting to warm up to his horse glider.

Two of a kind

Brendan and Owen are as different as night and day in every possible way . Apparently, one thing they both agree on his how hard it is to resist Jeremy’s electronics. Here’s a picture of each of them and their new discovery.

Brendan....

Owen...

Just a side note…Brendan was 7 months old when this picture was taken. Owen was almost 9 months old. Look at those ham hock legs of Brendan's!

A kiss like no other

This video is kind of dark, but hopefully you can see.

Owen's a major kisser. He will leave you drenched in his saliva.

More Easter Adventures

Owen did not get involved in the egg decorating festivities, but Brendan picked the color and made him his very own. Owen got to play briefly with his egg.

A whole new meaning to suck an egg. He had purple lips for the rest of the night.

Easter Adventures

Brendan loved Easter. He loved coloring eggs. He got to go on several Easter Egg Hunts and loved those. He met the Easter Bunny. He loved him....from afar. He nearly wet himself when the Easter Bunny came close. He did appreciate that the Easter Bunny left him a basket. If you ask what he got, he tells you fruit snacks. He could care less about any candy and presents that were in the basket.

Brendan went on an Easter egg hunt at home. In his pajamas.

Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!
